Its a brave new world.

With the culmination of patch 3.3 on us now, and the demise of Arthas taking place on servers all around the world, the news of the noble sacrifice to ensure the world of Azeroth is safe from the undead Scourge comes with a heavy heart...

Why is the heart heavy you ask? Is it all the grease from eating non-stop mana biscuits? No it isn't, and I'll have you know my biscuits pass the stringent standards of the MFDA... Anyhow.. back to what I was rambling about.

My heart is heavy over this sacrifice, because it wasn't needed. Why is a new Lich King needed? We're told its to keep the undead horde from running rampant over the world and laying waste to everything. Now, I'm not some big shot blizzard designer, adept at changing the lore at the drop of a hat. But isn't that ALL we've been doing in this expansion pack? Killing powerful Lieutenants of the Scourge?

The assault on Ice Crown Citadel can be called nothing less than a Flawless Victory, aside from the possible Joe Nameless Ashen Verdict Knight, or those two idiots who can't dodge spears during the Svalna Gauntlet, there were no real casualties in the attack.

Hell, the most casualties done during this whole war happened due to infighting of the factions. Once during the Wrathgate when Pultress turned to the Burning Legion, and the other when a bunch of hordies stupidly attacked a failed alliance assault that was retreating from the scourge, ending in the demise of BOTH armies. Good f'ing job guys.

So who is Bolvar saving us from? Those loser scrub ghouls in the Plaguelands? the same ones that have been held back by the Bulwark... a whole of 6 or 7 guards? If thats really the extent of the horrors he's saving us from, I'll take my chances with them running rampant only to die at the edge of Horde Steel. It's certainly a better option than what could happen down the road.

Personally... I think the Lich King broke him before we got there. And Bolvar Lichking sees that he's going to have to AGAIN bide his time rebuilding an army needed to take on the light. So he'll play nice, waiting for the Horde and Alliance to again turn on each other like rabid dogs (since both sides WILL be lead by rabid dogs in Cataclysm.. gg Garrosh and Varian, gg). And when we've killed each other to the point that the spirit healers don't wanna rez our stupid asses anymore, we'll have a brand new undead legion waiting to eat us all.

  1. The whole "There Must Always be a Lich King!" thing confused me a bit as well. I fail to see how a well coordinated, thoughtful scourge is less of a danger than a madly marauding one. Would mindless undead even have the forethought to make more mindless undead? I would imagine they would only be concerned with making "dead."

It also seemed like many of the Lich Kings most potent agents were capable of being "liberated." Just look at Sylvanas (if you aren't one of the people that still thing she is pure evil) and the many other scourge leaders who role-play their release/relief when slain. Me thinks the whole New Lich King thing might have been in error...
